The Rutgers University Television now offers more than 80 programming services on over 100 analog and digital channels. If you are using a standard television, our analog lineup includes 73 channels, and remains unchanged from 2008-09.
We also offer several of the digital channels available over the air from the New York City market, including High Definition (HDTV) from the four major broadcast networks.
2009-2010 marks the beginning of RU-tv’s transition to a digital delivery system. We’ve added almost 30 channels of standard definition digital channels, including several foreign language services.

GETTING CONNECTED
ANALOG
These channels are available to both digital and non-digital televisions. During set-up select CABLE. Analog televisions set to ANTENNA will not be able to get all the channels. Some digital televisions will search for digital and analog channels at the same time while others will require two operations. Consult your owner’s manual.
BROADCAST DIGITAL
For those of you with digital televisions, RU-tv is happy to offer the free, over-the-air signals of the major network affiliates in New York City, including high definition (HDTV) signals from ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. During set-up select ANTENNA. Every television is different. Consult your manual for programming instructions.
DIGITAL CABLE
QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) is a standard digital delivery method for cable television. During set-up of your digital TV select CABLE. These channels are all in standard definition (SD) although you may notice some test signals in HD as RU-tv prepares for future expansion. Consult your manual for programming instructions.
